Installing the App

Hold the Green is a Progressive Web App, which means you can install it to your phone or desktop and launch it like a native app — full-screen, with its own icon, no browser address bar in the way.

Installing

iPhone / iPad (Safari). Tap the Share button, then Add to Home Screen.

Android (Chrome). Tap the ⋮ menu and choose Install app (or Add to Home Screen), or use the install prompt that shows up in the address bar.

Desktop (Chrome / Edge). Click the install icon in the address bar, or use the browser menu's Install Hold the Green option.

What you get

Once installed, it opens in its own window and loads instantly on repeat visits. You'll still need a connection for live data — scores, standings, anything happening in real time — but the app itself opens even on a flaky signal instead of showing a blank browser tab.

Installing also matters for push notifications: on iPhone and iPad, Apple requires the app to be installed to your home screen before push notifications can be enabled at all. On Android and desktop Chrome or Edge, push works straight in the browser without installing first. See Notifications for the full picture.

Updates

When a new version ships, a small "A new version is available — Reload" banner appears. Tap Reload to jump to the latest. That's it — there's no app-store update to wait on.
